5 Little Words!
You know how important it is to look good and feel great if you want to live your life to the fullest. You appreciate that being comfortable with the way you look and feel increases your sense of well-being. And when you look good, you feel more confident. You understand that your weight is an important factor in the way you feel about yourself. So if you are overweight by even a few pounds it can have a dramatic affect on the way you look and feel and this reflects on your level of self confidence.
So you have made a conscious decision that you need to lose a few pounds to achieve your ideal weight. What would you usually do when you make that decision “I need to lose weight”? You would most probably search for a book which details the latest diet, weight loss pills or “program” that promises that you will lose the few pounds you want. You read the book, take the pills, stick to the meal replacement shakes or join a weight loss program.
You manage to shed the weight you want to lose and then you decide your diet is over. Slowly but surely you begin to put the weight back on. The pounds and inches you worked so hard to lose begin to return. Worse still, you end up weighing more than you did before you started your diet. All that effort and you have failed once again!
Then after a period of time you decide “I need to lose weight” and start the process all over again. Does this sound familiar to you?
Well I am delighted to tell you it does not have to be that way! There are two key secrets you need to know right now. The next time you make the decision that you need to lose weight, stop and think about the words you are using. “I need to lose weight, therefore I have to go on a diet”. Just think about the following words: LOSE and GO ON A DIET.
When you lose anything, what is the first thing you do? Imagine you have “lost” your keys – the keys to your home and to your car. You start looking for them. You think about the last time you had them with you. You replay in you mind what you have done since then and retrace your steps where you have been.
The longer your search continues, the more worried and agitated you become. You need to use the car to get to work or fetch the kids from school. You cannot go out and leave the house unlocked. You cannot feel relaxed and have peace of mind until you have the keys in you hand. You may even start to FEEL panic rising within you.
You eventually find the keys that were “lost” and what do you do? You breathe a sigh of relief and feel your peace of mind return. The status quo has been reestablished and life can return to “normal”.
Whenever you “lose” something it is a natural reaction to want to find it. And it is your subconscious mind that tells you that if something is lost it needs to be found. Your conscious mind may be telling you that “you need to lose weight” and give you all the reasons why, but your subconscious mind tells you the opposite. It cannot tell the difference between a set of keys and your excess pounds. So be careful about how you use “I need to lose weight”.
How many people do you know who always seem to be “on a diet”? It is not always the same one they were on the last time you spoke to them. When you talk to your friends, how often do you hear them tell you that they are going on a diet? Strictly speaking we are all on a diet – it is what we eat!
But in today’s society, going on a diet means restricting what we eat and, depending on the diet plan, cutting out all the foods which are “bad” for us. This usually means the things we most enjoy eating! And this is where the problems often start. We feel deprived because the diet plan says that we cannot eat chocolate, ice cream, cheese, bacon and all the other foods we really enjoy. We are told that foods we would never usually eat are good for us. And sooner or later, we become sick and tired of eating food we just do not enjoy and our diet goes out of the window, even if we are losing weight
Also “going on a diet” often implies a serious effort on your part. It is like going on a journey. You need to plan and this takes time. Some weight loss programs take a considerable amount of effort to ensure you eat the right things and you become almost obsessed with food to the point that all the enjoyment of a meal disappears.
So if you are looking for a quick and easy way to achieve your ideal weight without dieting, stress or willpower and then have no worries about putting all the weight back on – the secret is already inside you.
